Hi, with all the sunshine and warmth I've just started painting the Marblehead yacht I acquired from Pete Carman at Wicksted last year.. All the mechanicals have been made and now it's time to paint and do the final build ready for the sea trials.
The hull is an unknown, but the dimensions are Marblehead, 50 inches long. It's not a recent design so I asked Simon for a copy of his plans for the yacht he built in the 1970's (24/7 in the plans handbook) and copied the lead bulb dimensions from that and also based the rudder on his boat. The sail winch is an unused one(whirlwind) from that era as are the sails I am planning to use initially, The number 1 set from my 36R which approximate to the no. 3 set in sail area for those shown for Simon's 24/7. I also have a 20cm. extension for the mast so a new set of larger sails may get a better performance in the light winds frequent at Fairlands.
ps. I'm still practising with my postings and hopefully will soon be able to post some photos..
